Xuan My handicraft ward was formed in the 17th and 18th centuries, specializing in making lime, bricks, fine arts such as combs, horn clamps, etc., to supply to Hoi An commercial port, which was in a flourishing period . Xuan My communal house was built by the residents of Xuan My handicraft  ward by their efforts and money The communal house was embellished in the 15th Thanh Thai year of Nguyen Dynasty (1903) with the popular architecture of communal house in Hoi An which is a building has two functions: workship and gathering place. The monument was combined with the Luc vị temple, the stele house, the banyan tree, and the water wharf. The communal house provides valuable information about the process of settlement and development of handicraft industries on the outskirts of the ancient commercial port of Hoi An. In addition, residents also worship a relief statue of a Cham elephant, showing traces of the process of acculturation of Vietnamese - Cham culture. The relic was ranked as a national historical and cultural relic in 1993.
