Among more than 1000 current old houses in Hoi An Ancient Town, Tan Ky ancient house at 101 Nguyen Thai Hoc street is famous for near and far tourists with its values of culture, history, architecture and fine art wood carving. Tan Ky ancient house was the first ancient house in Hoi An to be recognized as a national relic in 1985 and classified as a special type of relic according to the assessment of Hoi An Center for Cultural Heritage Management and Preservation.According to the owner, the old house was built 200 years ago, with typical tube house architecture, divided into many compartments with the combined functions of a shop and a house like most other civil buildings  in the city. The trading signboard "Tan Ky" which was hung above the entrance door from the owner's ancestor is a testament to the family's prosperous business period. The house has a diverse truss system with sophisticated and beautiful decoration projects, and a combination of Vietnamese-Japanese-Chinese architectural styles created by artisans from Kim Bong carpentry village.
