Since the 16th century, generations of the Chinese have considered Hoi An as a good place to settle, trade and together they establish their own assembly halls as a place for gatherings and community activities. Despite centuries having gone by, the assembly halls of the Chinese community in Hội An have been preserved intact in terms of architecture, worship beliefs, customs and habits and have become an indispensable part of the World cultural heritage site of Hội An. Every year, Hải Nam people in Hoi An and other places often gather to hold ceremonies on the 2nd of the first lunar month and 15th of the sixth lunar month.
