In 1719, on a pilgrimage to Hoi An, Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu bestowed three words "Lai Vien Kieu" with the implication that it is a prayer to welcome guests from afar, which is still solemnly placed at the entrance of the temple today.
Experiencing the ups and downs of time, the work still retains its great value in architecture, culture, and history, showing the connection between the Vietnamese-Japanese-Chinese communities in the ancient trade port of Hoi An. Currently, Covered Bridge is officially chosen as a symbol of the city and an indispensable attraction of any visitor when coming to Hoi An ancient town.
