The ancient town of Hoi An was formed and developed from the 16th to the 17th century. It was once one of the busiest international trading ports in Southeast Asia. The town was the meeting place for many Asia-Europe merchants who came here to exchange goods such as China, Japan, Siam, India, Netherlands, Spain, England, France...It was held in the form of an international fair from 4 to 6 consecutive months each year depending on the monsoon season. Therefore, Hoi An was considered as a land of convergence, interference, and acculturation of many East - West cultures. Hoi An ancient town is famous for its typical architecture of a traditional Asian trading port which is well- preserved. According to statistics, Hoi An currently preserves almost intact 1360 relics including many types: houses, family chapels, communal houses, pagodas, temples, assembly halls, ancient wells, harbors, markets... Through the ups and downs of history, the flow of time covers Hoi An with a peaceful and silent beauty. Hoi An impresses visitors with mossy yin-yang tiled roofs, ancient walls and colorful lanterns.
