The Vietnamese community in Cu Lao Cham was formed and developed in the 17th century. Over the course of time, Vietnamese residents have built many architectural works, religious institutions, civil constructions such as communal houses, pagodas, mausoleums, wells, ... to serve the daily needs of the people. Local people have inherited, used and repaired wells that were previously built by the Champa residents. The well is located in the residential area of Cam hamlet. This is one of the ancient wells with bold Champa architectural style in Cu Lao Cham. The well has a diameter of 118 cm, a depth of 4.5 m, the inside of the well is built of brick in the shape of a collar, plastered with lime mortar, at the bottom there are 4 ironwood beams assembled into a square. According to old documents, this well also supplied fresh water to merchant boats on the route of trading at sea in the past. Currently, the well of Cam hamlet is still preserved quite intact and is used by local people because of its abundant, cool, fresh water source as well as interesting attractions for tourists near and far.
